Description

Sherlock is desperately trying to hang on.

Since I am currently writing on my latest story in which Sherlock goes through withdrawal at home and is having a very hard time, my mind kept working on the topic in an artistic way I guess.
The story can be found here:  archiveofourown.org/works/1278…

This is deliberately dark to underline the cravings, the pain and the depression Sherlock is going through during detox. He is really having a bad time.

----------------------------------------

For a change I wanted to do some digital design/artwork.

This took an ridiculous amount of time because:

1. I first had to make a photo manip of two screenshots because there was no shot in the epidsode in which both Sherlock's hand on the banister as well as both feet are in the frame.

2. Then I had to acutally take the picture of a dirty syringe and spoon on the saucer, which took ages until I had it all set up and dirtied (with acrylic paints and soot on the spoon and watered down ink in the syringe). I took about 70 pictures, some with other items, too, which I then had to sort. In the end I was very disappointed because I had to chose a picture in which the objects are not at all where I wanted them to be. Therefore I am not overall happy about the outcome of this.

3. I made vectors for each field/object in the photomanip I wanted in the later work, which took a bit more than three hours (because I am fast with making these and paths). The coat alone consists of 8 vectors.

4. I used the vectors/paths to cut out a positive version of the picture and pasted it into the exact same position of a negative of the same picture which took four freaking hours to do every element!

5. In the end I fine-tuned it and added shadows and played a bit with the curves in certain areas of this or that object to give it a bit more of a 3D feeling.

If I had done that in watercolour as I planned in the beginning it probably would have taken less than half the time.
.

Nice job, you put some serious work into this. I bought some water colour paper tonight. I really want to art this evening but it's too late, I'm going to run myself down if I don't at least try to sleep. : ( sorry, just wanted to say I love it really. Not moan.
